In Indian mythology, "Asura" (also spelled "Asur") refers to a class of supernatural beings or deities. Asuras are often depicted as powerful and sometimes malevolent beings who are in conflict with the more benevolent deities known as "Devas" or "Adityas." The concept of Asuras and Devas is a fundamental theme in Hindu mythology.
According to Hindu mythology, Kashyapa was a revered sage and one of the seven ancient sages (the Saptarishi). He married Diti, and from their union, the Asuras were born. Diti gave birth to several Asura offspring, including prominent figures like Hiranyakashipu, Hiranyaksha, and Prahlada.
